Seventeen people applied to fill a vacancy on the District U46 School Board, but only 10 of the applicants were granted interviews by the school board, records show. The board spoke with candidates Thursday and Friday night in antipation of choosing one to fill the seat previously held by Traci O'Neal Ellis, who resigned in April.

Schaumburg Summer Theater to hold 'Ragtime' auditions

Auditions for the Schaumburg Summer Theater production of "Ragtime" at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts will be May 22 and 23. Suburban companies are expected to cut 542 workers in the upcoming months, according to state documents. Another 926 suburban workers will be cut when Carson's closes suburban stores as previously announced.
