The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is planning several repairs projects for Illinois River dams that could interrupt barge traffic for much of summer 2020. Millions of lights sparkle during the Festival of Lights

One of the largest lighted holiday events in the Midwest returns to Central Illinois during the 34th annual East Peoria Festival of Lights, running from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31. Many of the festival events are named for Folepi, the festival's toy soldier mascot and an acronym for "Festival Of Lights East Peoria Illinois." Son says he killed parents, bodies found in Illinois river

The bodies of a college professor and her husband have been recovered from a river in central Illinois and their 21-year-old son, who said he was "sick of his parents" according to authorities and stabbed them to death, has been charged with first-degree murder. The bodies of Susan Brill de Ramirez and Antonio Ramirez Barron, both 63, were found Tuesday in the Spoon River near Annawan, resting against the riverbank, Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said.
