A $125,000 grant from a nationwide competition will allow affordable housing developer NewVue Communities, Inc. to rehabilitate and restore nearly 30 apartments in the Cleghorn neighborhood. Fitchburg woman charged in mail theft

Footage from hidden cameras installed in a Harvard post office and mail truck have linked a postal carrier from Fitchburg to $37,000 in charges to stolen credit cards and show the woman smoking from a glass pipe while out delivering mail, according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court. Stephanie Lacroix, 37, of Fitchburg, is facing mail theft charges following a federal investigation into her work as a mail carrier in the town of Harvard this spring and summer.

The City Council delayed voting on whether to approve an appropriation of over $800,000 to buy a historic home that could be incorporated into Sholan Farms after opposition from the public and councilors during its meeting Tuesday night. The acquisition of the house at 1183 Pleasant St. and its surrounding four acres was something At-large Councilor Thomas "Frank" Ardinger said he'd initially thought could be good for Leominster.

The former operator of used car dealerships Performance Auto and Auto Sales and Imports appeared in District Court Tuesday to face charges he stole two vehicles he promised to sell. Pavlos Amanatidis, 56, of 48 Goddard St., has a "lengthy history before the court with similar larceny charges," Assistant District Attorney Alanna Richard told Judge Andrew Mandell.

Two men arrested on vehicle, gun charges in Leominster

State Police arrested two men - one on motor vehicle offenses and the other, a felon, on gun charges - during a traffic stop in Leominster Monday morning, police said.
