University committee on Jenkins Hall name to hold public information session Nov. 28

The Marshall University Presidential Committee to Examine Building Names will hold a public information session next week to discuss its process and an upcoming opportunity for people to provide input. The information session will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Room BE-5 of the Memorial Student Center on the Huntington campus.

Huntington holds 1st public meeting Monday on Hal Greer Boulevard Corridor Plan

Some changes are in the works for what some consider "the front door of Huntington," Hal Greer Boulevard which connects the Cabell County city to Interstate 64. "What we want is a safe corridor for everybody - pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic," said Brian Chapman, project manager for the Hal Greer Boulevard Corridor Plan and a landscape architect with the West Virginia Department of Transportation. Along with safety, officials with the DOT are working with the City of Huntington and the KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission on a management plan for Hal Greer Boulevard to address congestion, flooding and connectivity between Huntington High and 3rd Avenue.

Shawn Bryson, Columbus man, was sentenced yesterday to 37 months for selling crack cocaine within 1000 feet of Marshall University in July 2017, announced United States Attorney Mike Stuart. The Huntington Police Department conducted the investigation.

A New York man who helped obstruct a federal drug conspiracy case in 2017 was sentenced today in Huntington to 12 months and 1 day in prison, announced United States Attorney Mike Stuart. Kevin Fritz Lamerique, 34, previously pled guilty to aiding and abetting an attempt to obstruct and impede an official proceeding.

Two naloxone products used to treat opioid overdose patients remain chemically stable long after their expiration dates, according to a study presented at PharmaSci 360, the annual meeting of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, held from Nov. 4 to 7 in Washington, D.C. Researchers found that the naloxone nasal spray Narcan was chemically stable for 10 months after its labeled expiration date and that the naloxone injection Evzio was chemically stable for at least one year after its listed expiration date, CNN reported.
