Buffalo Grove, Illinois was named for the Buffalo Creek that runs through the town. The creek was named after bison bones were found in the area. From early settlement in the 1840s to the 1950s, there were several dairy farms and cheese producers in the area. In fact, for the first half of the 1900s, Buffalo Grove was known for being the primary dairy producer serving the Chicago area. Man saves life of woman who had heart attack in Buffalo Grove parking lot, police say

A suburban man is being credited with saving the life of a 71-year-old woman who recently suffered a heart attack while in the parking lot of a Jewel-Osco store in Buffalo Grove, police said. Around 7 p.m. May 12, Buffalo Grove police received multiple 911 calls from shoppers who reported that a victim was on the ground of the parking lot outside the Jewel-Osco store at 79 McHenry Road, said Buffalo Grove Police Officer Amy Cholewa.
