Tremell Barnett, 16, reportedly was listening to music in the back seat of a friend's car at his Hollow Ridge home on July 19, when the friend said Barnett produced a pistol that went off as the teen pointed it at his head, Athens-Clarke County police said.

A 56-year-old Vincent Drive resident was arrested for alleged drunken driving Thursday night after his pickup truck was stopped for motor vehicle violations, Athens-Clarke County police said. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Newton Bridge Road shortly after 10 p.m. because the truck did not display a license plate and it was swerving, police said.
