Standoff Between Suspect, Police Over

A standoff between police and a suspect who allegedly assaulted an Antioch police officer on Monday night has come to an end early this morning, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials. Fire spokesman Steve Hill said the standoff ended around 1:56 a.m. and evacuated residents can return to their homes, but the shelter-in-place order remains in effect until 4 a.m. Police are still at the scene investigating the incident, but Hill didn't elaborate on how the standoff came to an end or if the suspect has been detained.

Police respond to possible shooting in Antioch neighborhood

No other details were initially available, but social media posts say multiple agencies have responded and may be coordinating to search for a suspect in a shooting. Around 7:45 p.m., emergency first-responders were dispatched to a home in the 4500 block of Deerfield, just west of Fawn Hill Way.
