Hundreds demonstrate immigration policy in San Francisco

Hundreds of demonstrators are outside the offices of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement's office in San Francisco banging drums and chanting "Stop taking children!" and "The people are rising, no more compromising!" The group of about 500 gathered Tuesday amid a growing uproar over the Trump administration's policy of separating immigrant children from their parents. Nadine Skinner says she came from Alameda, across the San Francisco Bay, to protest because she is a second generation American whose family fled Europe to escape the Nazis.

California lawmakers passed legislation Monday that puts more conditions on state film tax credits to encourage better sexual harassment reporting and diverse hiring amid revelations of misconduct and discrimination in the movie industry. The legislation would require feature film and television projects that apply for the credits, which are assigned based on jobs created, to report diversity statistics to the state and designate people to handle misconduct claims.

Task force files suit over dangerous lead levels in toddler formula

Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced Friday the filing of a consumer protection action against two businesses that sell toddler formula - Graceleigh and Nutraceutical - due to the discovery of dangerously-elevated lead levels in their products. The action was filed in Alameda County and jointly prosecuted by the Napa, Sonoma, Solano, Marin, Monterey, Alameda, Orange, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and Shasta County District Attorneys, and the California Attorney General's Office.
