Woman burned after smoking on home oxygen

A fire began in a Westminster apartment after a woman was smoking while on home oxygen. Crews from the Westminster Fire Department responded to the fire just after 9 a.m. Saturday to the apartment at 345 Pleasanton Rd. According to a press release from the State Fire Marshal, 19 firefighters responded and were able to put the fire out in ten minutes.

Mount Airy woman charged with assault for striking officer

A Mount Airy woman has been charged with assault after allegedly striking a Carroll County sheriff's deputy on Sunday. Around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, a Carroll County sheriff's deputy accompanied a man to a home on the 6000 block of David Road in Mount Airy at the man's request, so that he could retrieve some property, according to charging documents.
