Westminster rally is latest push back against school decision ban on 'We The People' posters

Westminster High School alumni are organizing a rally next week to protest a decision by Carroll County schools to remove posters from classrooms that officials said were political in nature. They scheduled their Rally for Diversity for March 3 outside the county's Board of Education - the latest protest after teachers at the high school were told last week to remove "We the People" posters they had hung in classrooms.

A Westminster High School alumna has raised more than $5,000 in two days through a GoFundMe campaign to help students at the school pay for T-shirts depicting the same image that appeared on posters teachers at the high school were told to remove from classrooms. Michael Terrell Boone, 26, of the 700 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard, has been charged with two counts of theft, one of $1,000 or less and the other of $100 or less, according to electronic court files.

Fire Marshal investigating Westminster chair fire

It took four firefighters from the Westminster fire company about 1 minute to bring the fire under control at a home on the 300 block of Stacy Lee Drive, in Westminster, a patio chair having caught fire sometime around 9:06 p.m. that night. The fire originated from the chair, according to a news release from the Fire Marshal, was discovered by the occupant of the home and did an estimated $50 in damages.

At least seven drug overdoses occurred in Carroll County between 10 a.m. and noon Friday, likely indicating especially potent illegal drugs in the area that are more likely to cause an overdose. The Carroll County Health Department issued a "Community Overdose Alert" around 1:30 p.m. Friday warning about the presence of the drugs.
