California Army National Guard Soldiers from the 149th Chemical Company based out of Turlock, set up a temporary building Monday at the Dixon May Fair grounds. EL CERRITO Eighty-six-year-old George Yokai has a nearly lifelong affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America, a connection that continued when a group of Scouts from El Cerrito Troop 104 met to tidy up his yard on Nov. 4. Rosemary Levy, who brings Yokai bread from the El Cerrito senior center on Mondays as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, put him in touch with Damian Hayden, who has a son in Troop 104, and the clean-up day was arranged. While the Scouts raked and swept in the front yard on Lexington Avenue, Yokai, who is confined to a wheelchair, reminisced about having been a member of a Japanese-American family that was sent to an internment camp in Colorado during World War II.

Man suspected of Sonora-area thefts arrested in Turlock

A Sonora-area California Highway Patrol investigator submitted an arrest warrant on Friday for the man believed to be responsible for a Sonora- and Soulsbyville-area vehicle theft crime spree in late October.
