Repeat drug dealer sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison

A federal judge Tuesday sentenced a 49-year-old man to 11 years and eight months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and entering the country illegally. Florentio Ambriz-Banderas, who had been deported after serving a sentence for a prior federal drug conviction in Oregon, was arrested again in Springfield on April 7, 2016, 15 months after being forced out of the country, according to prosecutors.

DeFazio to hold town hall Monday at Roseburg High School

U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, will hold a town hall meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Rose Theatre at Roseburg High School, 400 W. Harvard Ave. The town hall is part of a series of meetings DeFazio will hold around southwestern Oregon in late July and early August. DeFazio also has town hall meetings scheduled around his district in August, including visits to Eugene, Springfield, Albany, Corvallis, Bandon, Coos Bay, Florence and Oakridge.
