SHERWOOD, Ark. - An 8-year-old was credited with saving her sister and niece's life when she called 911 after her sister suffered a seizure while driving.

Pet fair in Sherwood scheduled April 22

Sherwood Animal Services will have its annual Pet Fair and Fundraiser next month to raise money for its programs and to help purchase a mobile adoption vehicle. The North Little Rock man accused of killing a volunteer firefighter who was coming to his aid last year appeared in court Monday for a status hearing before his April trial. Mark Eugene Pruitt, 48, appeared in Judge Barry Sims' courtroom Monday morning on a charge of manslaughter in the death of 29-year-old Ronald Jason Adams, a volunteer firefighter with the East Pulaski department and a lieutenant for the Sherwood Fire Department.

The only witness to the Christmas Eve slaying of former professional baseball pitcher John David Barfield is the 17-year-old son of the man accused of killing him, a Little Rock police detective said Monday. Detective Matt Huffine said Trent Goodman described seeing his father, William Lee Goodman Jr., and Barfield grappling on a two-story staircase behind Barfield's home at 514 Sherman St. The teenager said he then saw his father shoot Barfield twice in the chest just as the struggling men fell over the railing to the ground, a drop of about 15 feet, the detective testified.

Bill filed to allow concealed weapons in the Capitol

State Rep. Karilyn Brown today filed legislation that would allow holders of concealed weapon permits to carry them in buildings on Capitol grounds, including the Capitol and Arkansas Justice Building, where the appellate courts sit.
