Ex-owner of Little Rock dealership faces child-porn case; agents said to trace live viewing of abuse

The former owner of a Little Rock motorcycle dealership was arrested Wednesday on child-pornography charges stemming from his participation in an online chat room that was involved in the sharing of live images of children being raped, the U.S. attorney's office announced. William Thomas Murry III, 60, of Sherwood was arrested by federal agents after his July 6 indictment by a federal grand jury on one count of possession of child pornography and four counts of receipt of child pornography.

Ban on violence-fueling concerts lacks support in Arkansas after shooting

A county leader's proposal urging four Arkansas cities to impose a 180-day ban on performing music that promotes or incites violence has been overruled due to First Amendment rights to free speech. Justice of the Peace Judy Green, D-Little Rock, proposed the idea for the ban in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood and Jacksonville at the Pulaski County Quorum Court on Tuesday, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

Plaintiffs say revive hot-check court suit

A federal lawsuit alleging that Sherwood's hot-check court routinely stampedes over the rights of the poor by penalizing them for their inability to pay fines should be reinstated, attorneys for the five plaintiffs asserted Thursday. Sherwood officer cleared in shooting

A Sherwood police officer who shot a man during a low-speed chase in December has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the case, the Pulaski County prosecutor's office said. Officer Todd Abbott shot Jose Louis Burgos, 26, after Abbott and other officers responded to a domestic disturbance at Whitewood Drive and East Woodruff Avenue the morning of Dec. 21. Police said Burgos fled in a vehicle through a housing subdivision and officers followed him onto a dead-end street.

Council faces levy decision in Sherwood

Sherwood City Council members are faced with at least two different proposals for a city sales-tax increase to support bonds to pay for street and drainage improvements.
