Superior Court Judge Rules Against Seattle Income Tax, Appeal On the Way

Seattle's income tax on people making more than $250,000 annually violates state law and is therefore invalid, a King County Superior Court judge ruled today. Along with a 1930s Supreme Court ruling against a state income tax, state law says cities and counties cannot impose income taxes.

Four years after the West Seattle Church of the Nazarene initiated a project to build six townhouses on part of its open-space property, the requested rezone is finally coming to the City Council , with a committee vote expected next Monday night. It aims to build more housing than original zoning would allow.
