$80,000 bail for two accused in string of suburban armed robberies

A man and a woman charged with armed robberies in Des Plaines, Glenview and Schaumburg were each ordered held on $80,000 bail Friday. A third defendant, 27-year-old Ahmed Fathi, is hospitalized for unknown reasons at Chicago's Cermak Hospital, prosecutors said.

A Palatine cabdriver was ordered held on $2.5 million bail Thursday on charges he sexually assaulted a female passenger he picked up last July from a bar. Muhammad Mahmood, 39, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping, felonies that are punishable by 12 to 60 years in prison.

3 charged in series of suburban robberies

Three Chicago residents were charged Thursday in connection to a Des Plaines robbery in which one of the suspects exchanged phone numbers with a gas station clerk before her accomplice stole cash at knife point, authorities said. Ahmed Fathi, 27, Samantha Perez, 24, and Ayham Alamawi, 24, are charged with armed robbery.
