Man strikes woman in head, steals purse during armed robbery in Portage

Police are looking for a man who they say robbed a woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of shopping mall. The Portage Department of Public Safety said officers responded just before 11 p.m. on July 1 to the Crossroads Galleria on Westnedge Avenue on a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Woman claims she was attacked in Portage park

Police in Portage are looking for a man who accosted a woman who was jogging through Lakeview Park late Tuesday afternoon. Dispatchers received a call at about 5:40 p.m. and responded to the scene in the 9300 block of Portage Road along with park pangers, who immediately began looking for a person matching the description, but could not locate him.

Gun seized in routine traffic stop

Kalamazoo Public Safety officers were trolling for speeders in the 1400 block of Alamo Avenue on the hilly portion near Douglas after complaints from homeowners when they caught a big fish. They asked the 31-year-old driver, a man from Indiana to exit the vehicle and soon after a struggle began.

Decomposed body found in south Kalamazoo County

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a dead body found by a farm worker in a rural field near Fulton on Tuesday. Sheriff Rick Fuller said the body was decomposed.
