PLAINFIELD -- A 49-year-old Pennsylvania man was found dead in his jail cell in Plainfield on Friday after he was arrested and charged with heroin possession, police said. South Plainfield police took the man, of Easton, Pa., into custody Friday morning and transferred him to Plainfield Police on outstanding traffic warrants, Police Director Carl Riley said.

Alleged gang member found guilty of weapons charges

SOMERVILLE - A North Plainfield man who is allegedly a member of the Bloods street gang was found guilty of second-degree possession of a defaced firearm in Somerset County Superior Court on Tuesday. Terrance Barker, 33, was also found guilty on two counts of possessing firearms following the three-day trial before state Superior Court Judge Robert A. Ballard.
