Marin County pension contributions to rise

The board that oversees the pension investments of a large chunk of Marin County's public employees decided Tuesday to cut a key investment return assumption, resulting in member agencies and employees paying more to finance the program. The nine-member board of the Marin County Employees Retirement Association, known as MCERA, voted 7-2 to reduce the fund's assumed annual rate of return from 7.25 percent to 7 percent.

A Marin County woman will face trial for attempted residential burglary after testimony she took off her clothes in the front yard of a Suisun City home in what the prosecution said was a bid to distract the resident from finding a second burglary suspect in the backyard. A resident of a home on Alexander Way told police Aug. 8 that Anna M. Harp, 52, began to get naked when the resident heard a man's voice in the backyard, according to law enforcement testimony at the preliminary hearing Monday in Solano County Superior Court.

Three Sonoma County residents were arrested in Novato in a case involving two stolen vehicles, a pile of stolen belongings, nearly 9 pounds of marijuana and more than 2 ounces of methamphetamine, police said.
