Meridian is located in central-eastern Mississippi. It was established in 1860, near the city's historic Union Station. The Mobile-Ohio Railroad and the Southern Railway of Mississippi allowed Merdian to become dependent on the goods transported via the railroads. The federal government has approved plans to turn the Art Deco themed Threefoot Building In Meridian, Miss., photographed Tuesday, May 9, 2017, into a hotel. Local news outlets report 48-year-old Steven Todd Hardin was transported to a correctional center in Pear River County on Thursday after a grand jury indicted him on six counts of sexual battery of a minor. Picayune Police Chief Bryan Dawsey said in a statement Hardin trained children in the Navy JROTC program at Northeast Lauderdale High School in Meridian.
