25th RF Wood Golf Tournament raises nearly $50,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs

On July 10, more than 200 golfers and volunteers joined together for the 25th year in memory of Bob "RF" Wood and raised funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest. The 25th annual RF Wood Kids Classic Golf Tournament was held at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, and expanded to two courses to accommodate additional golfers.

Burning trees for fuel may soon qualify as a form of renewable energy in Massachusetts

The Baker administration plans to designate a fuel derived from felling trees and clearing brush in forests as a form of renewable energy, a move that environmental advocates say would increase emissions and counter promises the governor made after President Trump pulled out of the Paris climate accord. The proposed rules, which stem from a provision in a 2014 law supported by the logging industry, would provide financial incentives for the energy source known as woody biomass - wood chips and pellets made from tree trunks, branches, sawdust, and other plant matter.

Police identify woman killed in Northborough crash

Police Sunday identified the woman killed in a Route 20 car crash in Northborough as 25-year-old Meghan Farrell of Marlborough. Police said Farrell was driving a 2000 Nissan Ultima eastbound on Saturday afternoon when she crossed the centerline outside Chet's Diner and collided head-on with an oncoming 2009 Lexus RX around 1:12 p.m. Farrell was pronounced dead at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
