Marlborough was one of the seven "Praying Indian Towns" because they were converted to Christianity by the Rev. John Eliot of Roxbury. In 1674 a deed was drawn up dividing the land between the settlers and the natives. Marlborough became a prosperous industrial town in the 19th century and transitioned to high technology industry in the late 20th century after the construction of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Legislators announce passage of local education bill in Westborough

State representatives Hannah Kane , Danielle Gregoire , Carolyn Dykema and Senator Jamie Eldridge announced passage of legislation relative to Westborough Public Schools' Bridging Over Right Opportunities Program. The legislation, which was passed by the Massachusetts Legislature and recently signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker, was filed as a Home Rule Petition by Representative Kane and jointly sponsored by representatives Dykema and Gregoire and Senator Eldridge.

MBI pitches Charter broadband to New Marlborough, with strings attached

The state backs a cable company's broadband fix for New Marlborough, but won't offer terms received by nearly 10 other unserved communities. Under the proposal, outlined Friday, Charter Communications would be paid $3.1 million to build a network reaching 96 percent of the town's homes and businesses, then charge subscribers for service.
