In the south-central area of Arizona, the town of Marana is located. While the 2010 census lists the population as over 34,000 people, it is considered the fourth fastest-growing cities in the state. MARANA, AZ - The Marana Police Department is investigating an increase of vehicle break-ins at Continental Ranch, Continental Reserve, and Gladden Farms neighborhoods. According to an MPD release, 14 vehicles have been broken into so far in January, this is above average for the time of year.

Man hit by police cruiser sentenced to 21 years in prison

TUCSON, AZ - The man who went on a citywide crime spree and was stopped when he was hit by a police cruiser in Marana will spend the next 21 years in prison. Mario Valencia was sentenced on Monday, Jan. 9, for his convictions on several charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and arson.

TUCSON, AZ - Northwest Fire District officials say they received a 911 call around 5:50 p.m. about a crash involving a motorcycle on Silverbell, just north of Cortaro. Crews on scene learned that the motorcyclist had collided with a small SUV, with both vehicles receiving significant damage.

Missing service dog putting Marana woman's life at risk

MARANA, AZ - A Marana woman's life is on the line after her service dog went missing when she had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance Wednesday, Dec. 28. Program director for Rainbow Service Dogs Kelley Fecteau said Truth, a female service dog, was with its owner at the Avra Valley Community Church in Marana when her owner suffered a seizure. "The ambulance doors flung open and spooked her because it had almost hit her in the face," said Fecteau, who was the one that trained Truth to fit her client's needs.

PIMA COUNTY, AZ - The man and woman arrested following a robbery and deputy-involved shooting on the northwest side Thursday have been identified. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said David Allen White and Stacey Lastella are facing several charges in connection with Thursday's incident as well as a robbery case in Marana.
