The city's name comes from the Spanish word for "thicket." The Marana Airfield trained about 10,000 pilots during World War II, making it one of the largest pilot training centers in the world. PIMA COUNTY, AZ - A man accused of at least eight armed robberies, all at Subway restaurants in the Tucson area, has been arrested. The Pima County Sheriff's Department said Christopher Hunt-Taylor was arrested at the InTown Suites on Ina Road in Marana Thursday morning.

MARANA, AZ - The Marana Police Department asked for the public's help in identifying a shoplifting suspect on Tuesday, Aug. 29 and they didn't fail. It was an 88-CRIME tip that led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Anthony Allan Parra Jr. According to MPD, they located Parra at the Pima County Adult Detention Center on Wednesday, Aug. 30. Parra was being detained on an unrelated incident by a different law enforcement agency.

Marana PD: Tip leads to shoplifter ID

TUCSON, AZ - The Marana Police Department said an 88-CRIME tip led police to identify 31-year-old Karina Valenzuela Ortiz of Tucson as a shoplifting suspect. Police said Ortiz is the suspect in a May 29, 2017 shoplifting incident at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 3900 Ina Road.
