Parking meters will go back into operation Friday, May 26. In addition to quarters and credit cards - which can be used at meters on Rehoboth Avenue and on North First Street - this year will mark the fifth year since Rehoboth instituted the Parkmobile pay-by-phone parking app. Since its introduction in Rehoboth, Parkmobile, which allows users to extend their parking sessions without having to leave the beach, has been introduced in Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes and Ocean City.

The Rehoboth Beach Police Department released a video Monday showing an officer rescuing a man who appeared to be contemplating suicide on the Rehoboth Lewes Canal Bridge in April. According to police, officers responded to the bridge shortly after 2:15 PM on April 20th for reports of someone hanging over the bridge railing.

Multiple homes damaged in Lewes fire

Glenn Marshall of the Lewes Fire Department said firefighters from Lewes, Rehoboth, Indian River, Milton, Georgetown and Slaughter Beach responded to the blaze shortly after 1 a.m. No injuries were reported, he said. Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Harry Miller said when first responders arrived on the scene, heavy fire was showing in the rear of three town homes in the 100 block of Carter Way.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office says they investigated and found the cause of an early morning fire that damaged five town houses in the Canary Creek Development in Lewes on Monday. Around 1 a.m., on Carter Way, The Lewes Volunteer Fire Department assisted by Milton, Rehoboth Beach, Slaughter Beach, Indian River, and Georgetown Volunteer Fire Companies, along with Sussex County EMS responded to the blaze.
