Lawrenceville is located in northern Georgia. It is named after Commodore James Lawrence, a commander during the War of 1812. Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler magazine, faced obscenity charges in Lawrenceville during the late 1970s. On one of the days of his trial, both he and his attorney were shot by a sniper near the courthouse. Both men survived, but Flynt was left seriously disabled. The film Road Trip starring Sean William Scott, Amy Smart, Tom Green, and Breckin Meyer was filmed partially in Lawrenceville.

Two people have been arrested in connection to a series of vehicle burglaries at fire stations and subsequent locations across 17 counties around Metro Atlanta, including Cartersville and Bartow County. Detectives determined the two suspects entered more than 161 vehicles at more than 44 locations, and that more than 40 firearms were stolen since January.

Duo accused of breaking into 161 vehicles in metro Atlanta

A duo from Lawrenceville were both arrested after being accused of breaking into 161 vehicles across metro Atlanta, including vehicles outside fire stations. A spokesperson with the Cobb County Police Department says an investigation from their department and the FBI found that 25-year-old Elisha Ross and 22-year-old Ayana Forest allegedly broke into vehicles in 17 counties around Atlanta, including at three Cobb County fire stations, four Smyrna fire stations and Glock, Inc. Police say both Ross and Forest were arrested in Gwinnett County and charged with entering auto, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and burglary.

Suspect in Decatur motel murder being held in Georgia, pending extradition

At approximately noon on Saturday, the Morgan County 911 Center received a call reporting a deceased person at the Quality Inn in SW Decatur. Officers with the Decatur Police Department's Patrol Division as well as the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene at 2120 James Dr. They arrived to find the body of 22-year-old Tiara Alexandra Cole of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
