A New Hampshire man was sentenced to 13 years in prison Wednesday for his role in a 2012 kidnapping in Lawrence, federal prosecutors said. Thomas Wallace, 29, of Raymond, N.H., was charged in connection with kidnapping and home invasion crews referred to as "joloperros," which loosely translates to "stick-up guys" in the US Attorney's Office in Boston said in a statement.

Rhoderick Adino was among three men arrested by Tewksbury police in February of last year after selling drugs to undercover detectives who contacted them with the cell phone of a 28-year-old man who died of a drug overdose, according to police.

Lowell police arrest pair of teens on gun charges

City police say a pair of out-of-town teenagers were arrested in the Centralville neighborhood Sunday when officers found them in possession of guns following a short foot pursuit. Erick Pena, 18, of 84 Kenwood Ave., Methuen; and Jeremiah Pimentel, 18, of 536 Andover St., Lawrence, both fled when they were approached by detectives who suspected they were armed, but both were captured after a short pursuit, according to a press release.

Utilities made progress overnight restoring power to thousands of homes, but more than 124,500 customers remained without power early Tuesday, more than a day after powerful winds ripped through Massachusetts, downing trees and power lines. National Grid reported 112,515 customers without power around 6:15 a.m., down from 172,000 that the company reported were powerless as of 11 p.m. Monday night.

Head-on collision on Route 110 in Dracut injures two

A driver and passenger who were in a Honda CRV that crossed the center line of Route 110 and slammed head-on into another vehicle Saturday evening were both flown to Boston trauma centers by medical helicopters, according to police. Emergency crews in Dracut were called to Route 110 near the Lowell line Saturday at 6:12 p.m. Dracut police Deputy Chief David Chartrand said a preliminary investigation determined that a 1999 Honda CRV was being driven westbound by a 24-year-old Lawrence man when the Honda crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta driven eastbound by a 31-year-old Dracut woman.
