Two Lawrence men are behind bars after authorities investigating a drug trafficking ring say they seized more than 1,200 grams of a suspected deadly combination of heroin and fentanyl, a concoction officials have blamed on hundreds of Bay State overdose deaths. June 13--LAWRENCE, MA-- A careless smoker who flicked away a lit cigarette caused the six-alarm fire Sunday afternoon that destroyed several buildings, damaged four other homes and a garage and displaced 64 people, fire Chief Brian Moriarty said Monday. The cigarette ignited vegetation and "other combustibles" at a side entrance to 131-133 Bennington St. at about 3:30 p.m., then spread up the side of the building and, pushed by a strong wind, leaped through the tight cluster of buildings, said Jennifer Mieth, a spokeswoman for state Fire Marshal Peter Ostroskey.

A man has been sentenced in New Hampshire to serve over four years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute over a kilogram of heroin.
