Man convicted of first-degree murder after 2016 shooting at Md. motel new

A man was convicted Friday of first degree murder and attempted first degree murder for fatally shooting a woman and injuring a man at a hotel in North Laurel, Maryland last year. On on July 2, 2016, officers responded to reports that two people were shot at the motel on U.S. Route 1 at around 4:30 a.m. Amanda Duer, 29, of La Plata, Maryland, died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police searching for man who robbed armored truck in Laurel

Anne Arundel police are searching for a man they say robbed an armored truck at gunpoint in broad daylight in Laurel on Tuesday. The police department said officers responded to a report of a robbery in the 3400 block of Laurel Fort Meade Road at 1:14 p.m. Police said workers with Brinks, an armored truck company, told officers they were approached by a man with a rifle who demanded money.

A Maryland state trooper and a pedestrian were hurt after being struck by a driver in Prince George's County on Sunday. The driver, Chris M. Dent, 37, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
