Lakewood is located in central Colorado, just outside of Denver and is part of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was built by Charles Welch and W. A. H. A 22-year-old man pleaded guilty last week in the death of his 3-month-old daughter in Lakewood. Josiah Lamarr Jones appeared in Jefferson County District Court March 6 and pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death a week before a trial was set to begin, according to the district attorney's office.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help after a 17-year-old inmate at the Mount View Youth Services Center in Lakewood scaled a perimeter fence Monday, escaping the facility.
