Megan Lynn Malone, 26, of McKenzie Drive, Kingsport, was charged Sunday by the Tennessee Highway Patrol with driving under the influence, Trooper Jeremy Shelton said in a report. Malone was in a vehicle pulled over for 20 minutes on the side of northbound Interstate 81 in Greene County with its flashers on.

East Tennessee has lost one of its bluegrass heroes, with the unexpected passing of Scott Gould last week at 68 years of age. For many years, Scott had run The Violin and Fiddle School Of Music in Kingsport, TN, where he taught countless children and adults how to play the fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar.

Officials: 6 injured when deck collapses at Tennessee home

Officials say six people including an infant have been injured after a part of a second-story deck collapsed at a home in northeastern Tennessee. A May 30 federal court trial date has been set for a Greeneville woman who allegedly devised an elaborate scheme to embezzle more than $115,000 from two Tennessee nonprofit organizations while serving both in the voluntary capacity of treasurer. Gayle Sicard Shapiro Green allegedly embezzled more than $65,000 from the Greater Kingsport Kennel Club between November 2007 and Dec. 31, 2016, and allegedly embezzled about $50,000 from the Tennessee Basketry Association between September 2006 and Dec. 31, 2016, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Greeneville.
