Jacksonville is a suburb 15 miles northeast of Little Rock and was named for Mr. Nicholas Jackson. He donated land to the Cairo & Fulton Railroad for a railroad right-of-way in 1870. A community formed around the railroad depot eventually forming the town of Jacksonville which was incorporated in 1941. The Battle of Reed's Bridge Marker is found in Jacksonville.
