Jacksonville is a suburb 15 miles northeast of Little Rock and was named for Mr. Nicholas Jackson. He donated land to the Cairo & Fulton Railroad for a railroad right-of-way in 1870. A community formed around the railroad depot eventually forming the town of Jacksonville which was incorporated in 1941. The Battle of Reed's Bridge Marker is found in Jacksonville. An 18-year-old Little Rock man was arrested Friday morning after he led authorities on a chase through Pulaski County, crashed two stolen vehicles and hit a police cruiser on Interstate 630, officials said. According to reports, Thomas admitted to stealing multiple vehicles and to other offenses, including taking credit cards and a purse out of separate vehicles, and breaking into a vehicle and spreading feces on its dashboard and windows.

4 arrested in after 10 pounds of methamphetamine found in vehicle in North Little Rock, police say

North Little Rock police arrested four people on drug trafficking charges after finding 10 pounds of methamphetamine in a vehicle Thursday morning, according to reports. Mark Gillespie, 52, of Little Rock; David Nunnelly, 32, of Quitman; Ricky Bennett, 38, of Conway; and Joyce Clarke, 32, of Jacksonville were each charged with trafficking a controlled substance.

Little Rock robber gets 15-year term; victim held up, shot during gun purchase

A 20-year-old Little Rock man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday for his role in the robbery of a Jacksonville man who was beaten and shot during a holdup. Kamron Lee Monte Mathis pleaded guilty to robbery, reduced from aggravated robbery, first-degree battery and possession of a firearm by certain persons in exchange for the 15-year term imposed by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Herb Wright, said deputy prosecutor Martinque Parker.

Arkansas couple face Internet-stalking charges

Two people were arrested Friday night by deputies after agreeing to meet a minor for sex in a motel room, according to a news release from the Pulaski County sheriff's office. Lauren Puckett, 31, and Joseph Davis, 33, both of Vilonia, were arrested around 9:40 p.m. at the Super 8 Motel at 1850 John Harden Drive in Jacksonville.
