Authorities arrested Jeremy Alan Barrett of Jacksonville in the shooting of 32-year-old Shawn Ramsey, who was wounded at a Little Rock apartment complex on Halloween, according to a police report. According to the police report, authorities went to the apartment complex at 619 Brookside Drive and found Ramsey with two gunshot wounds.

People in parts of 2 central Arkansas cities to vote on old alcohol ban

The cities of Jacksonville and Sherwood -- which want to expand economic development opportunities-- have jointly campaigned to overturn an alcohol ban from about 60 years ago during a special election scheduled for today. Eligible people will be asked to vote for or against the sale of alcoholic beverages and on-premises consumption within the defunct Gray Township voting district that overlaps Sherwood and Jacksonville.

For widow who lost savings, home, court opens path to builder's wallet

A 93-year-old North Little Rock widow won a significant -- but possibly temporary -- court victory Wednesday in her efforts to get her $60,000 in life savings back from an unlicensed builder who authorities say cheated her out of her money and her home of almost 50 years. Judge Tim Fox ruled that Marcus Andrew Dupree, the son of a Jacksonville construction company owner, can be required to pay any damages assessed against the now-defunct building company he operated, Northstar Consultants Inc. The question of how much damages Dupree might have to pay is to be decided by a Pulaski County jury next month.

A central Arkansas resident told police that a neighbor tried to stab him with a knife Thursday night at the apartment complex where they both live. Lori Ann Jones, 48, of Jacksonville was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening in the case, records show.
