1 Dead after wrong-way driver collides with school bus in the Northland

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the driver of the car, John M. Gaage, 32, of Independence, MO, has died at the hospital as a result of the head-on crash. The bus belonged to the Wellington-Napoleon School District, according to a statement from the district.

Raytown Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing $86,000 From Two Churches

Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Raytown, Mo., man who worked or volunteered at two area churches pleaded guilty in federal court today to embezzling more than $86,000 from those parishes. David Townley, 59, of Raytown, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Larsen to one count of wire fraud, one count of mail fraud and one count of tax evasion contained in a June 29, 2017, federal indictment.

Jackson County man accidentally shoots fiancee

According to the police report, Tyrell Staten was upset after his car broke down in Independence. Staten got out of the car and fired multiple shots at the silver Toyota Rav 4. A witness told police that the suspect shot five or six times into the front of the car, near the engine.
