City Point was also the headquarters of General Ulysses S. Grant during the Siege of Petersburg during the American Civil War. Police said they were called to the 1900 block of Warren Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, in response to a woman screaming for assistance. When officers arrived, they found a female victim who was bleeding heavily from the head and face.

A woman is recovering from injuries after she was shot riding down the street in Hopewell, according to police. The gunfire, police said, came from another vehicle.

Hopewell man charged with stabbing roommate

Officers responded to a call of a stabbing at a residence in the 1100 block of Wall Avenue on April 1 at around 5:50 p.m. Jonathan Branch, 29, of Hopewell was taken into custody by officers after arriving on the scene and discovering another person had been stabbed several times. The preliminary investigation revealed that Branch and the victim, who live in the same home, had gotten into a verbal disagreement that became physical, leading to the victim being stabbed multiple times.
