Holland man in critical condition after crash with cement truck

Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and the Holland Township Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Lakewood Blvd. and Analine Avenue around 3:46 p.m. in Holland Township. Sgt. Cal Kuening says 21-year-old Ellie Gomez was northbound on Analine and stopped at Lakewood Blvd when he entered the intersection and was struck by cement truck being driven by 49-year-old Thomas Morren of Zeeland who was east on Lakewood Blvd. Gamez had to be extricated from his vehicle by Holland Township Fire Department and then flown by Aeromed to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in critical condition.

One person flown to hospital after serious-injury crash in Holland

Ottawa County dispatchers say one person was flown to a hospital following a crash Wednesday between a cement truck and a car. It happened on West Lakewood Boulevard at Aniline Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Dispatchers tell FOX 17 the roads reopened at that location at 5:40 p.m. One person in the car was pinned inside, and had to be pulled out by rescue crews, according to Central Dispatch.

Republican fight against municipal broadband heats up in Michigan

A state lawmaker in Michigan wants to prevent cities and towns from using any government funding to provide Internet service. Michigan Rep. Michele Hoitenga, a Republican from Manton, last week submitted a bill that says cities and towns "shall not use any federal, state, or local funds or loans to pay for the cost of providing qualified Internet service."
