About: hayward, california

During the 1930s, Hayward's Harry Rowell Rodeo Ranch attracted rodeo cowboys from all over, including western movie actors such as Slim Pickens. In the late 1950s, south Hayward saw an influx of Asian Americans from the Bay Area because of a developer's willingness to sell homes to them in a new housing development. This was noteworthy because of the housing discrimination against minorities in California at that time.
