Hagerstown man arrested after shooting

Jacob Rony Arroyo, 17, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Monday by detectives with the Hagerstown Police Department, according to a news release from Public Information Officer Heather Aleshire. Officers arrived at 10:42 a.m. Saturday at a residence on Mitchell Avenue and located Justin Jason Caratini, 22, of New York inside suffering from a gunshot wound.

I-81: Md. reapplies for grant for widening project

The Maryland Department of Transportation is seeking a federal grant to help cover costs of a major project to widen a section of Interstate 81. The Washington County Board of County Commissioners, in conjunction with the Hagerstown-Eastern Panhandle Metropolitan Planning Organization, announced in a news release that MDOT resubmitted the I-81 Phase 2 widening project to the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America grant program for $46 million. The project will include widening from four to six lanes the three-mile stretch of I-81 between Md.
