EAST ORANGE -- Authorities are set to announce the take down of what they called a "massive marijuana operation" in Essex County. Officials from East Orange Sunday said they plan to announce the details of the shut down operation, which was conducted by the East Orange police, at a press conference at city hall Monday morning at 10 a.m. Authorities shared few details of the bust, but called the marijuana operation one of the largest in Essex County history.

It may correlate to the outright lack of social and political education in black households or informal social networks that constructively shape the social psychology of adolescents and the black community as a whole. Deep reading and value placed on intellectual development is lacking in poor black communities in Jersey City -- communities that are plagued by gun-related homicide, domestic violence, crime, teenage pregnancies, low graduation rates, and its members falling into what's referred to as a system of mass incarceration.

N.J. cop claims department retaliated over groping lawsuit

NEWARK -- An East Orange police sex crimes detective who is suing the department over alleged groping by a supervisor says she and her colleagues have been the targets of retaliation within the department. In an amended complaint filed in April in state Superior Court, the Special Victims Unit detective claims that since filing her original lawsuit in November, she has been issued an official warning for the first time in her career, and received a negative performance evaluation for what she says was leave from the department -- taken on doctor's orders -- to deal with the aftermath of the assault.

Man who stole woman's phone at PATH station chased down by cops, authorities said

NEWARK -- A Newark man was arrested outside the Newark PATH station Friday morning after he stole a woman's cell phone and led police on a brief chase, authorities said Saturday.
