Champaign man arrested for armed robbery

A Champaign man on probation for a weapons-related conviction is in custody in the Macon County Jail for a holdup that happened in Mahomet earlier this week. Mahomet Police Chief Mike Metzler said Cameron Anderson, 20, who listed an address in the 2400 block of Lakewood Drive, is being held in the jail in Decatur and is also a suspect in three convenience store robberies that happened in Macon County.

2 Car Accident Shuts Down Route 121 for over an Hour

July 20 - Route 121 was between Decatur and Warrensburg was closed for over an hour Tuesday evening as the Macon County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle traffic accident with injuries at the intersection of Route 121 and Park Road. After investigating the incident, it was determined that an eastbound 1996 Chevy was stopped on Route 121 and was preparing to turn east onto Park Road.

Police arrest 3 in July 9 gas station shooting

The Decatur Police Department has arrested three people in connection with a July 9 shooting that left one person injured. Decatur police say the shooting happened at a BP gas Station on the corner of East Wood and 22nd Streets at about 3 a.m. Police say the victim, a 27-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the leg.
