East Bay doctors accused in alleged $40 million medical-insurance scam

More than two dozen doctors, pharmacists and business owners, including several from the East Bay, were charged Thursday in an alleged $40 million medical-insurance scam in Orange County and elsewhere that officials said "played with patients' lives." The accused masterminds are Beverly Hills couple Tanya Moreland King, 37, and husband Christopher King, 38, who own medical-billing and medical-management companies Monarch Medical Group, King Medical Management and One Source Laboratories.

Police Arrest Two on Suspicion of Stabbing Danville Teen

A teenager from Antioch and 22-year-old man from Brentwood have been arrested in connection with a stabbing a Danville teen late Wednesday night. Police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon around 11:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Mikado Place.

Foothill principal tapped to lead San Ramon Valley High

Jason Krolikowski, principal of Foothill High School since 2013, has been appointed the new principal of San Ramon Valley High in Danville. Krolikowski, who is wrapping up his fourth year as principal at Foothill, is expected to replace current principal Ruth Steele at the start of the next school year in July.

A controversial proposed 150-unit apartment complex just east of downtown could get its final clearance Tuesday night with the Town Council expected to deny an appeal of the project by a local citizens group. On Feb. 28, the Danville Planning Commission approved plans for the "Riverwalk at Downtown Danville" , proposed by Los Gatos-based Danville Office Partners, LLC. The site is a 3.7-acre parcel in the 300 block of Diablo Road, just west of Interstate 680 and east of downtown, between existing commercial buildings and San Ramon Creek .

AAA Motorcycle Roadside Assistance Program Being Tested on Contra Costa Highways

Members of AAA who are in need of roadside assistance in parts of Contra Costa County might now get help a little more quickly thanks to a new motorcycle pilot program. The week-old program has been in effect along the state Highway 24 and Interstate Highway 680 corridors and includes the cities of Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville and San Ramon, according to AAA spokesman John Moreno.
