Earlier this month a trial court sided with the city of Cupertino to reject petition sections of a ballot initiative that would have helped bring a hotel project to De Anza Boulevard. The North DeAnza Gateway Initiative, which supports development of the Goodyear Tire Service Station into a "full-service hotel" near the intersection of North De Anza Boulevard and Homestead Road near the Cupertino Inn, was submitted on April 6. But the city said there were problems with the initiative when it was submitted to city clerk Grace Schmidt nearly a year ago.
