Police seek Concord drugstore theft, battery suspect

Officers are seeking additional leads in the search for a man who broke a store clerk's nose and leg while stealing items from a convenience store three months ago, police said Thursday. In late April, a man walked into a Clayton Road convenience store and tried to buy cigarettes and clothing with a stolen credit card.

Judge Rules Suspect in 2013 Road Rage Crash is Incompetent

A judge ruled today that a Concord man is still mentally incompetent to stand trial on an attempted murder charge for an alleged 2013 road rage hit-and-run crash on state Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel in Oakland, which left another man paralyzed. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Rhonda Burgess said the evidence at a recent hearing in her court indicates that Bowin David, 36, understands the nature of the proceedings against him but he's unable to assist his defense lawyer in a rational way.

Several vehicle burglaries have been reported within the past few days in the Park-N-Shop shopping center on Willow Pass Rd. in Concord. Police responded to at least two vehicle burglaries on Tuesday night, and since then, at least one other vehicle has been burglarized, according to a victim.
