Carrollton is located in west central Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The land once belonged to the Creek Indians and was incorporated in 1829. It was named for Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence. The town was featured in the 1983 Murder in Coweta County although no scenes were filmed in Carrollton. Therapist raising funds for 'life-changing' therapy pool

A neuromuscular therapist is organizing a silent art auction on March 8 at the Carrollton Center for the Arts to raise money to build a chemically inert therapy pool. Neuromuscular therapy is a specific type of massage therapy designed to help nerves, muscles and the brain communicating.

Sound of Medicine: Musicians to join physicians for Rapha Clinics concert

Area musicians, physicians and health care providers will next week perform the 4th annual Sound of Medicine fundraising concert for Rapha Clinics of West Georgia. "In the first two years, we held the event at First Methodist Church in Bremen, but we had more people show up than we had space," said Dr. Amy Eubanks, medical director and chairman of the board for Rapha Clinics.

Safety measures are being added to the West Georgia Regional Library System, a step taken following the deadly shooting last week at a Florida high school. Clint Chance, chairman of the library system board, has authorized administrators to "immediately take additional, necessary actions for the safety of our patrons and staff."

GreenBelt planners to map out VR trail project

The same foundation that helped build the Carrollton GreenBelt will create a master plan for a similar trail system in Villa Rica. The PATH Foundation, which has helped to build a number of off-road trails in Georgia, will produce an overall plan for a bike/walk trail system that the group is calling the "City of Villa Rica Greenway."

City Attorney Chuck Conerly said a property owner last year wanted to open an auto wrecking yard. The city ordinance required both junkyards and auto wrecking businesses to be situated on a property of at least 5 acres.

County's gymnastics center could be finished by end of year
