Carrollton is located in west central Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The land once belonged to the Creek Indians and was incorporated in 1829. It was named for Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence. The town was featured in the 1983 Murder in Coweta County although no scenes were filmed in Carrollton. Highway 113 traffic a concern for commissioner

Although District 3 has been relatively quiet when compared to others in Carroll County, Commissioner Tommy Lee said there are a few projects he is keeping an eye on, such as high-end home development on Sharp Creek Lake. But Lee is concerned with the amount of traffic accidents in his district, which includes Temple, and is hoping the state will implement traffic safety initiatives.

Suspect caught minutes after armed robbery

Police said a man held a gun on a Family Dollar clerk Wednesday and left the Carrollton store after taking an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. According to police, the victim said the suspect came into the North Park Street store with a small silver handgun that he pointed at the clerk.

Davis gets 20 years in Nizzear murder case

A defendant in the Nizzear Rodriguez murder case on Thursday received a 20-year sentence for first degree burglary in Carroll County Superior Court. Malik Davis will have to serve 14 of those years in jail, but can appeal the Judge Dustin Hightower's sentence.
