Carrollton is located in west central Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The land once belonged to the Creek Indians and was incorporated in 1829. It was named for Charles Carroll, the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence. The town was featured in the 1983 Murder in Coweta County although no scenes were filmed in Carrollton. DOT to discuss North Loop Thursday night

Villa Rica residents curious about the new North Loop, including the planned roundabouts to enter and exit the roadway, can have their questions answered tonight at an open house hosted by Georgia Department of Transportation. The open house is scheduled for tonight, July 20, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Powell Park Recreation Center, 524 Leslie Drive.

Raises to start showing up for many county, city workers

Pay increases for city and county employees were a major part of the discussions prior to the approval of 2017-18 fiscal year budgets. The four constitutional officers of the county called on the Board of Commissioners to provide increases for staff, which was approved with the budget adoption.

Ben Scott culvert work to push against school start

The city of Carrollton was hoping to have work on the new culverts on Ben Scott Boulevard finished by July 25, which would be prior to the start of the new school year. But almost daily rainfall has delayed construction, and the expected completion date has been pushed back to Aug. 1.
