Woman charged with stabbing boyfriend to death in home

The Plymouth County District Attorney's office says 53-year-old Kirsten Smith was arrested Friday on a murder charge in the death of 52-year-old Scott Benoit. Officers had responded to a report of a stabbing at a Brockton home where authorities say Smith and Benoit lived together.

The Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory has identified three samples of carfentanil, an extremely lethal synthetic opioid never before identified in Massachusetts and considered to be a serious danger to the public. A Stoughton woman accused of elder abuse was acquitted Friday in Norfolk District Court, according to Norfolk District Attorney spokesman David Traub. After a one-week trial, Sandra Lucien-Calixte, 51, was acquitted due to a lack of evidence she abused her 75-year-old aunt, Traub said.
