Bolingbrook is located in northeastern Illinois. It was incorporated in 1965, making it one of Chicago's newest suburbs. Despite the fact that the settlement now known as Bolingbrook remained unincorporated for over 130 years, several people have called the area home since the 1830s. Up until the 1960s, the area was just an informal group of farming villages. Teen charged in Naperville theft

Naperville police arrested a Bolingbrook teen Saturday on accusations he stole money from a person after the two met up for the sale of a cellphone. Thomas J. Woods, 17, of the 0-100 block of Boulder Ridge Court, faces a misdemeanor theft charge stemming from an investigation police launched Saturday when the victim flagged down an officer in the 1500 block of North Naper Boulevard.

Orland Park elections run up $362,000 price tag

In the three months leading up to the April 4 elections for mayor and trustees in Orland Park, spending on things such as mailers, phone calls and TV ads totaled about $362,000, according to new campaign disclosure filings. Much of the spending came in the final two weeks of the election, with $183,000 spent by political action committee Liberty Principles on an advertising juggernaut targeting incumbent Mayor Dan McLaughlin who, according to unofficial vote totals, lost his bid for a seventh term to challenger Keith Pekau.

Gambling-parlor robbery under investigation

Lt. Bruce Ramseyer said preliminary reports are that a man armed with a gun entered Dotty's Slots and Video Poker, 12 E. Green St., C, near the intersection with Neil Street, just before 1 p.m. The robber was described as a thin black man; about 17 to 20 years old; about 5 feet, 4 inches tall; weighing 145 pounds; and wearing a blask mask that covered the bottom part of his face, a black shirt and blue jeans. He displayed what appeared to be a small black handgun.
