About: blue springs, missouri

Blue Springs is located in western Missouri. Because of its proximity to Kansas City, it has been considered a satellite city of Kansas City. The city was named after the Little Blue River, which provided cool, clean water for pioneers moving westward. Eventually the presence of the river led to the construction of a mill which gave way to the development of a permanent settlement. When the city was incorporated in 1890 Franklin Smith, a leading figure in the development of the community, named the city after the well-known springs.
