About: berwyn, illinois

Berwyn is home to "The Spindle," a sculpture consisting of eight cars impaled on a fifty foot spike. It was created in 1989 by artist Dustin Shuler, and was shown in the movies Wayne's World and Wanted. Grassroots efforts to raise over $300,000 to relocate the sculpture failed, and it was demolished in 2008 to make way for a Walgreens. The city also has one of the largest Laundromats—a 13,500 square feet building, with 161 washers, 140 dryers, a play area, televisions, a bird sanctuary and free pizza every Wednesday.
