A man who opened fire into a stranger's car in Beaverton last year, killing the passenger, seriously wounding the driver and inadvertently shooting himself, was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 35 years. Roshawn Travers, 21, appeared stoic and made no statements in Washington County Circuit Court as the sister of passenger Andres Castorena said Travers didn't deserve to live and the surviving driver, Fernando Chaires, said the shooting has had an impact on his life every day since.

Boil water advisory issued for more than 5,000 in Beaverton area

Officials say more than 5,000 Beaverton residents should boil their water until further notice after a water main broke Wednesday afternoon. A broken valve on a water main caused a loss of water pressure to Tualatin Valley Water District customers south of Farmington Road, the agency said.
