Two brothers, woman charged in Aurora police standoff after burglary

Authorities have charged three people after a botched burglary Saturday targeting guns at an Aurora home turned into a five-hour standoff. Lucas R. Perez, 24, of the 400 block of South Broadway Street, Aurora, and Sergio B. Perez, 25, of the 300 block of Prairie Avenue, Aurora, face felony charges of armed violence, residential burglary, unlawful use of weapon, aggravated assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest, according to Kane County court records.

Wrongful-death suit filed in Aurora retention pond crash that killed mom, 9-year-old son

A wrongful-death lawsuit has been filed against three businesses and a 37-year-old Aurora man seeking damages for a June 17, 2015 crash that killed an Aurora woman and her 9-year-old son after her vehicle plunged into and sank in a retention pond. The lawsuit, filed by family members of Maria Ramirez Garcia, 31, and her son, Ronaldo Alanis-Ramirez, argues management firms and another driver were negligent in causing the crash, which sent her 2003 GMC Envoy into a detention pond northeast of Sullivan Road and Edgelawn Drive on the city's west side.

A 22-year-old Aurora man was shot Saturday, June 17 while sitting in his vehicle outside an Aurora convenience store. According to Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the 7-11 gas station in the 1600 block of Montgomery Road.

Driver who killed woman in Aurora sentenced to 7 years

An Aurora man was sentenced to seven years in prison Monday for killing an elderly woman and injuring a second person while driving a car when impaired, Kane County officials said. Paris T. Lisy, 24, of the 1700 block of West Illinois Avenue, plead guilty in May to two counts of aggravated DUI related to the crash on May 16, 2013.

A 22-year-old man is OK after being shot while he was parked at an Aurora gas station Saturday afternoon, police say. The shooting happened at 6:21 p.m. in the 1600 block of Montgomery Road, according to a post on the Aurora Police Department Facebook page.
