World Series trophy coming to Aurora on April 3

The city of Aurora, the Aurora Area Sports Alliance and the Paramount Theatre will host the trophy in the Grand Gallery of the Paramount Theatre, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, from 1 to 2 p.m. April 3. The first 500 fans in line will receive wristbands and are guaranteed an opportunity to view and take a photo with the trophy. Due to time limitations, anyone without a wristband is not guaranteed admittance.

Roundabout construction at Bunker, Keslinger will start in 2019

In November of 2015, Randy Harris of Campton Hills asked the county transportation department if a traffic light could eventually be installed at the Bunker and Keslinger roads intersection because traffic leaving the LaFox Metra train station in the evenings backs up from the parking lot to that intersection. Traffic engineer Lydia Benda got right back to Harris, explaining that the intersection did not meet federal guidelines for a light, but the county was aware of the situation at the station.

Coroner says no foul play in Oswego East student's death

The Kane County Coroner's office said no foul play was suspected in the death of a 16-year-old Oswego East High School who collapsed after playing basketball during gym classes on March 17. According to a statement from the coroner's office, the coroner was contacted around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon by Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora where Darion Verner, of Montgomery, had been pronounced dead. The release stated that Verner had collapsed in the school's locker room after playing basketball and was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

An Aurora man has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of Clarence King, an 18-year-old from Aurora whose beaten body was found in a Chicago backyard July 16, 2016. Anthony W. Bills, 39, of the 700 block of Fifth Avenue, faces five counts of first-degree murder, along with kidnapping and mob action charges, in the death of King, according to Kane County court records.

An Aurora man was charged with drug-induced homicide Tuesday in connection with the Aug. 25 death of a man in Waterman, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. Jerome A. Glover, 42, of the 300 block of Parkside Avenue, was identified over the course of a lengthy investigation as a person who helped provide Philip McDaniel with the drugs that led to his death, according to the release.
