Judge reduces bail for mom who crashed into Aurora pond

A Cicero woman accused of driving drunk when she crashed her SUV into an Aurora pond and left her 6-year-old son in the submerged vehicle, is expected to be released from jail after a judge significantly lowered her bail Friday. Gladys X. Ruvira-Garcia, 31, of the 5600 block of W. 22nd Place, is charged with four counts of aggravated DUI and faces up to 12 years in prison if convicted.

Teen arrested in Aurora shooting; 3 men face gun charges

A 17-year-old Aurora boy has been charged in connection with a shooting Monday night in the area of Pearl Street and Sherman Avenue, according to reports. Police secured video footage of several people in the intersection, one of whom fired a gun, after a report of numerous shots being fired in the area came in around 8:55 p.m. Monday, the Aurora Police Department said Tuesday in a Facebook post The video showed the group running into an apartment in the 400 block of Sherman Avenue, and police arrested five people after officers searched the apartment and found a gun under a pile of clothing, according to the post.
